We have just come back from the Vet. We went in with Lucy, and came out alone.
She had been losing a great deal of weight in the last day or two, and an ulcer in her mouth from her kidney dysfunction started to cause pain and render her unable to drink. The Vet was kind, and it was only going to be a matter of days she would last in increasing discomfort.
Not a bad innings, but the house seems very empty without her.
Dear Flashduck - I'm so sorry about Lucy. It's always so sad when we lose a pet who has been a part of our family for a long time. You will have such great memories and the photo is beautiful. Big hugs to you. x

Oh Flashduck - I am so very, very sorry. It must hurt so much to lose a friend who's been with you for such a long time. My thoughts are with you.
RIP Lucy. I know "she had a good innings" and all, but you've had her for such a long time, I can imagine how heartbreaking it is to lose her :( Good on you for doing the right thing for her and not letting her suffer.
